— TRANSCENDENT GUIDE —

Professor

Transcendent Sage — the same anti-caster utility kit, with Double Casting and Mind Breaker added on top.

Quick Build

Recommended Build
Magic Rod / Spell Break / Land Protector core, same as Sage
Playstyle
Anti-caster and party-support utility, now with real crowd control
Difficulty
Same as Sage — still not a solo-nuke rival to Wizard/High Wizard
Primary Stats
INT, DEX, VIT — unchanged from Sage
Primary Weapon
Staff — same as Sage
Best For
Sage players who want a real crowd-control and utility upgrade, not a damage rework
  • Strengths: Fiber Lock and Blinding Mist give you genuine crowd control Sage never had; Mind Breaker is a new damage-plus-debuff tool; Double Casting adds real value to whatever you're already casting.
  • Weaknesses: the tree still does not add Storm Gust, Meteor Storm, Jupiter Thunder, or Lord of Vermilion — Professor stays the utility/support Mage, not a second Wizard, confirmed directly against this server's skill tree.

What Changes From Sage

Professor keeps every skill Sage has — Magic Rod, Spell Break, Free Cast, Land Protector, the elemental Endows, all of it, unchanged. Rebirth adds eight new skills (PF_ prefix): Indulge, Soul Exhale, Soul Siphon, Mind Breaker, Foresight, Blinding Mist, Fiber Lock, and Double Casting.

One caveat worth flagging directly: Soul Exhale (PF_SOULCHANGE) is designed to swap SP pools with a linked Soul Linker-class ally. GudzRO's progression roster (per docs/adr/ADR-0002) doesn't include a Soul Linker class, so this specific skill has no practical partner to use it with here — it's present in the data, but not a build consideration on this server.

New Skills

Priority

  • Double Casting (requires Hindsight 1) — a chance to cast your spell twice for one cast. Cheap prerequisite, straightforward value on anything you already cast often.
  • Fiber Lock (requires Dragonology 4) — roots a target in place. Real, useful crowd control that Sage's base kit didn't have.

Strong Utility

  • Mind Breaker (requires Increase SP Recovery 3, Soul Siphon 1) — deals damage and dispels/silences the target's active buffs. A genuine offensive-utility hybrid.
  • Blinding Mist (requires Deluge 2, Whirlwind 2) — a ground AoE that reduces enemy accuracy in the area. Pairs naturally with Land Protector for zone control.
  • Indulge (requires Increase SP Recovery 1, Magic Rod 1) — converts HP into SP. Useful sustain when you're SP-starved mid-fight.

Situational

  • Soul Siphon (requires Cast Cancel 5, Magic Rod 3, Dispel 3) — mostly relevant as Mind Breaker's prerequisite.
  • Foresight (requires Study 5, Free Cast 5, Hindsight 1) — reduces your chance of being interrupted while casting. Minor, situational.

Equipment & Cards

No new weapon type is introduced by Rebirth — your Staff and card choices from the Sage guide carry forward unchanged. Nothing in the new kit calls for a gear change.

Party Role & PvM

Same support/utility role as Sage, now backed by real crowd control — Fiber Lock and Blinding Mist let you actually shut down a dangerous target instead of only denying an area with Land Protector. Mind Breaker gives you a reason to engage directly against caster-heavy enemies, not just counter them passively with Magic Rod.
