Knight

Sword or Spear frontline — heavy melee damage with a mounted mobility option.

Quick Build

Recommended Build
Spear Knight (mounted)
Playstyle
Frontline melee, tanky, strong single-target and eventual AoE
Difficulty
Easy to start, Bowling Bash takes a long prerequisite chain to unlock
Primary Stats
STR, VIT, DEX, AGI
Primary Weapon
Spear (mounted)
Best For
Players who want a durable, straightforward melee frontline
  • Strengths: high HP and defense, a mounted movement-speed option, reliable damage from Mastery-boosted auto-attacks even before Bowling Bash is online.
  • Weaknesses: Bowling Bash sits behind almost the entire non-spear skill tree, so your real AoE payoff is a late unlock; no self-heal, unlike Crusader.

Why This Build?

Knight has two real weapon paths — Sword or Spear — and on GudzRO, Spear pulls ahead for most players because of one specific finding: Cavalier Mastery gives Spear Mastery's damage bonus a boost specifically while mounted (Spear Mastery is +4 ATK per level on foot, and Cavalier Mastery adds more on top once you're riding). GudzRO's own custom rental NPC lets any Knight with Riding learn rent a Peco Peco for 5,000z — no item or quest gate — so the mounted bonus is trivially accessible from early on.

Sword is still viable, especially if you're committing to the full Bowling Bash build (see Skill Progression below), but Spear gets you consistent, mastery-boosted damage immediately, with Bowling Bash as a later payoff either way.

Mid Knight701551351
Late Knight901701451
Endgame (Lv.99)991801601+
  • Fresh Swordman: STR and VIT together from the start — Knight doesn't have an AGI-first phase the way Assassin does.
  • Early leveling: add DEX steadily so your hits land reliably; both Mastery skills are flat ATK, not accuracy, so DEX is your only lever there.
  • Through your 40s–90s: keep pushing STR toward its cap, with VIT close behind for survivability, then DEX.
  • At the top: STR maxed for damage, VIT high for frontline survivability, DEX enough to hit reliably. AGI and LUK are largely dump stats for this build — your ASPD comes from equipment/buffs more than base AGI at this stage.

Skill Progression

Max First

  • Spear Mastery — flat ATK per level on Spear, no downside to maxing early.
  • Bash — your main damage skill before Bowling Bash comes online.

Core

  • Peco Peco Riding (1 point, requires Endure 1) — unlocks mounted status and Cavalier Mastery below.
  • Cavalier Mastery — extra Spear Mastery damage specifically while mounted; take this right after Riding.
  • Two-Hand Sword Mastery & Magnum Break — needed as prerequisites toward Bowling Bash even if you're not using a 2H Sword directly.

Useful Later

  • Two-Hand Quicken & Counter Attack — both required prerequisites for Bowling Bash; Two-Hand Quicken is also a genuine ASPD buff you'll actually use.
  • Bowling Bash — requires Bash 10, Magnum Break 3, Two-Hand Sword Mastery 5, Two-Hand Quicken 10, and Counter Attack 5. A long chain, but this is Knight's real AoE payoff once it's online.

Optional

  • Spear Boomerang (requires Pierce 3) — a ranged filler if you're building toward Brandish Spear instead of Bowling Bash.
  • Pierce, Spear Stab, Brandish Spear — a full spear-skill alternative to the Bowling Bash path, useful if you'd rather stay Spear-only than pick up 2H Sword prerequisites.

Usually Skip

  • Provoke, Increase HP Recovery — minor utility, not worth prioritizing over your damage/mobility skills.

Equipment Progression

Starter: take a Spear from your job-change quest's free weapon choice if offered; basic starting armor is fine.

Early Game: the shop-bought Lance (ATK 185, 60,000z) or the cheaper Halberd (ATK 165, 1 slot, 54,000z) from Einbech's Two Hand Weapon Dealer — the Halberd's open slot makes it the better value pick if you're on a budget.

Mid Game: keep your Halberd/Lance and start carding it (see Cards below); basic plate/leather armor and a garment with a small magic-defense bonus round out the set.

Late Game: refine your Spear as budget allows, and look at accessories that round out DEX or add Critical Hit.

Endgame: a fully refined, carded Spear with your best available armor — polish, not a wholesale gear swap.

Weapon Progression & Cards

Both the Lance and Halberd are shop-available from Einbech's Two Hand Weapon Dealer the moment you're eligible — no farming required to get started. If you'd rather go Sword instead, the same shop area's One Hand Weapon Dealer sells the Flamberge (ATK 150, 60,000z) and the INT-bonus Haedonggum (ATK 120, 50,000z, +3 INT — not useful for this build specifically, but shop-available if you want it).

  • Skeleton Worker Card: +15% damage against Medium-sized enemies plus +5 base ATK — a strong first weapon card, since most of what you'll fight early-to-mid falls into that category.
  • Kobold Card: +1 STR, +4 Critical Hit rate — a solid second card if you want more raw punch, farmable from common Kobold monsters.
  • Zerom Card: +3 DEX flat — a good pick instead if landing hits is your bottleneck.

Leveling Guide

Level Range Where to Go Why It Works
1–20Early open fields around the starting townsLow-danger monsters — your HP pool already makes this comfortable
20–40Slightly tougher fields and early dungeonsYour VIT/HP lead lets you tank hits other classes would need to kite
40–55Early dungeon monsters, including Kobold-type spawnsWorth farming deliberately — Kobold Card is a long-term keeper
55–70Mid-tier dungeon monstersMastery-boosted auto-attacks carry you comfortably while Bowling Bash's chain is still in progress
65–80Tougher dungeon monstersA real step up — your frontline durability is the advantage here
75–99Late-game hunting groundsBowling Bash should be online by now — use it to clear groups efficiently

What Should I Farm?

  • Skeleton Worker Card — your bread-and-butter Medium-race damage card for a long stretch of your progression.
  • Kobold Card — a solid secondary STR/Critical card from a common field monster.
  • Zerom Card — useful if landing hits, not raw damage, is your bottleneck.

Party Play

Knight is a natural frontline in a party — high HP and Provoke let you hold enemy attention while squishier classes deal damage from range. Solo, the same durability just means fewer risky pulls. There's no separate "party build" here; you bring the same tank-and-damage kit either way.
