Quick Build
- Recommended Build
- Katar Assassin (Sonic Blow)
- Playstyle
- Fast-paced melee burst damage, solo-friendly
- Difficulty
- Easy to start, moderate to gear well
- Primary Stats
- AGI, DEX, VIT, STR
- Primary Weapon
- Katar
- Best For
- Players who want a fast, independent leveling experience
- Strengths: strong single-target burst damage, cheap to gear early, good mobility and escape tools, solid solo leveling from the moment you unlock your core skill.
- Weaknesses: limited AoE until your skills are built out, spends skill points into a burst rotation rather than sustained DPS, no elemental-weapon flexibility without a second weapon.
Why This Build?
Assassins have two real weapon choices — Katar or a pair of Daggers — and on GudzRO the Katar path pulls ahead once you unlock your core skill. Katars hit harder as you invest skill points into them, and your signature move lands eight hits in a single strike once you've built into it. That gives you a genuine burst-damage tool that Dual Dagger doesn't have an equivalent for. Katars are also affordable — the basic versions are sold by ordinary weapon shops, so you're not stuck hunting for a rare drop just to get started.
Dual Dagger still has its place (see Alternative Builds below), especially very early on and when you want to carry two different elemental weapons for tough matchups. But for a general-purpose, mostly-solo Assassin, Katar is the stronger and cheaper path.
Stat Progression
| Stage | STR | AGI | VIT | INT | DEX | LUK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| Endgame (Lv.99) | 40 | 99 | 30 | 1 | 60 | 20+ |
- Fresh Novice/Thief: pour everything into AGI first — nothing else matters until you can land attacks quickly and reliably.
- Early leveling: once AGI feels good, put some points into VIT for survivability.
- Before job-changing: add a little STR (carry capacity) and start raising DEX (accuracy).
- Through your 40s–90s: keep pushing AGI toward its cap, then DEX, then VIT, then STR, roughly in that order.
- At the top: AGI maxed first, DEX next, VIT for survivability, STR for carry weight. LUK is leftover — your main damage skill doesn't benefit from Critical Hit.
Skill Progression
Max First
- Katar Mastery — raises Katar damage directly, unlocks your core attack skill partway through.
- Sonic Blow — your main damage skill: a fast, powerful eight-hit strike that carries your leveling and farming.
Core
- Double Attack — your bread-and-butter damage before Sonic Blow comes online, and it never stops helping.
- Hiding — opens the door to Cloaking; also useful for slipping past danger.
Useful Later
- Cloaking — move unseen; required for Grimtooth.
- Grimtooth — a wide-hitting attack, great for clearing groups.
Optional
- Improve Dodge — a few points if solo fights feel risky.
- Steal — worth a little investment on the way to Hiding.
- Poison skills (Envenom and follow-ups) — a legitimate secondary specialty once your core build is complete.
Usually Skip
- Right Hand / Left Hand Mastery — only matter for Dual Dagger.
- Small flavor/utility skills (Throw Sand, Back Sliding, Find Stone) — nice-to-have at most.
Equipment Progression
Starter: take the Katar option from your job-change quest's free weapon choice; basic starting armor is fine.
Early Game: a basic shop Katar, cheap body armor, a simple accessory or two.
Mid Game: a stronger Katar, ideally carded against common enemy types — an affordable, meaningful upgrade. Basic cloth/leather armor and a garment with small magic-defense.
Late Game: a higher-tier Katar with bonus damage against humanoid enemies; refine your armor as budget allows; look at Critical Hit or core-stat accessories.
Endgame: a fully upgraded Katar with your best cards, refined armor, and stat-rounding accessories — polish, not a wholesale gear swap.
A note on rare items: a small number of very powerful Katars exist but aren't available through normal shops or common drops — treat them as long-term aspirational goals, not planning targets.
Weapon Progression & Cards
Your basic Katar is shop-available from the moment you're eligible — no farming required to get started. Upgrade to a stronger base-model Katar as you level (also shop-available). A 3-slot version of your first Katar exists as a rare monster drop — a real, worthwhile upgrade if you happen to farm it, but not something to chase specifically.
Elemental Katars (Fire, Water, Wind, Earth) help against specific tough enemies, but hit noticeably softer than your plain Katar, and a full set is a real expense for a fairly situational benefit. Fire is the most broadly useful pick if you want one.
- Starter/general-purpose card: bonus damage against the common "Medium"-sized enemy category — most of what you'll fight early-to-mid.
- Specialized card: flat Strength plus a little bonus Critical Hit rate, or a DEX card if landing hits is your bottleneck.
- Farmable: both of the above come from common, levelable monsters — realistic to farm yourself.
- Aspirational/rare: cards from very powerful, rare monsters exist and are excellent, but aren't expected baseline gear.
Leveling Guide
| Level Range | Where to Go | Why It Works |
|---|---|---|
| 1–20 | Early open fields around the starting towns | Classic, low-danger monsters — good for learning your basics |
| 20–40 | Slightly tougher fields and early dungeons | A step up in danger; watch for outlier hard-hitters |
| 40–55 | Early dungeon monsters, including a weapon-card dropper | Worth farming deliberately — a card you'll keep using for a long while |
| 55–70 | Mid-tier dungeon monsters | A comfortable, steady band once your core skill is online |
| 65–80 | Tougher dungeon monsters | A real step up — make sure your prior gear target is solid first |
| 75–99 | Late-game hunting grounds | Watch for dangerous status effects — know what you're pulling |
What Should I Farm?
- A 3-slot version of your starting Katar — low risk, worth the detour.
- A weapon-slot card from an early dungeon skeleton-type monster — your bread-and-butter damage card for a long stretch.
- A Strength/Critical card from a common goblin-type monster.
- A DEX card from a common monster, if landing hits is your bottleneck.
Party Play & Alternative Builds
Assassin is a strong solo class, but nothing stops you from partying — your burst damage is just as useful helping a group clear a dungeon as it is solo. There's no dedicated "party support" version of this build; you bring the same damage kit either way.
Dual Dagger Assassin: trades your single big damage skill for steady, reliable regular-attack damage plus the flexibility of two different elemental weapons at once. Genuinely stronger than Katar in your earliest levels and for fights where switching elements matters. Past the early game, Katar pulls ahead for most players — keep Dual Dagger as a secondary set rather than your main build.
